ROCK ISLAND -- Head coach John Nelson of the Augustana Vikings softball team has announced two transfer athletes joining the program. 

Camryn Carter is a pitcher from Capron, Illinois, transferring to Augustana from Black Hawk. She attended North Boone High School, where she was a two-time All-Conference honoree, two-time First Team All-State, All-Area MVP, 2A State runner-up, and was on the high honor roll 2022-24. At Black Hawk, Carter earned All-Conference both years, along with First Team All-Region, and was the Arrowhead Conference MVP this past season. 

Why she chose Augie: "I chose Augustana College because it felt like the best fit for me both academically and athletically. I really liked the campus environment, the coaching staff, and how the team was when I played them."

Nelson on Carter: "We are very excited about the addition of Cami Carter to our team and pitching staff here at Augustana," said Nelson. "She has had enormous success in High School, travel ball, and also at Black Hawk College. She is a very competitive pitcher as well as an excellent teammate. Cami will be an impactful player and will make our team more competitive on the field and in the classroom."

Izzy Nordwahl is an outfielder from Farmington, Illinois, transferring from Black Hawk and attending Farmington Central High School. Prior to Augie, Nordwahl was a member of the  Pi Theta Kappa Honors program, along with the National All-Academic First Team, All-Conference, and an All-Region NJCAA athlete. 

Why she chose Augie: "I chose this college and program because it is the best fit for me academically and athletically. I love living in the Quad Cities, and when I visited Augustana, it felt like home. I look forward to continuing to get a great education in business and contribute to an amazing softball program."

Nelson on Nordwahl: "Izzy is an extremely fast outfielder who can cover a ton of ground and
make the outfield gaps seem small," said Nelson. "Offensively, she is a triple-threat lefty who will put a ton of pressure on the defense and steal some bases for us. We are very excited to have someone with her skill set to help us compete at a higher level and produce more runs. She is an excellent teammate who will make an immediate impact."
