ROCK ISLAND – Chad Gunnelson and Jordan Tice have been named to expanded leadership positions within Augustana College Athletics, Director of Athletics Mike Zapolski announced.

Gunnelson will serve as Assistant Athletic Director for Leadership and Development while continuing in his role as Director of Cross Country and Track & Field. Tice has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance while remaining Head Women's Lacrosse Coach.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside Dr. Brooks, Mike, Becca, and Coach Tice as we continue to work collectively to elevate Augustana Athletics. This wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for the incredibly connected team of student-athletes and coaches we have in track & field and cross country," said Gunnelson. "What I'm most excited about is collaborating with faculty and campus partners to align our strategic plan and enhance the student-athlete experience. We're blessed to guide the largest chosen identity group and student cohort here on campus, and our relentless work together will move the needle for the Vikings."

In his new role, Gunnelson will serve as the primary athletics liaison with Advancement to enhance fundraising initiatives while also focusing on alumni engagement and stewardship. He will additionally help create and strengthen campus partnerships with faculty and key areas across campus, including Communications & Marketing and CORE.

"I am excited to expand my responsibilities at Augustana beyond the field, and am grateful for the continuous support from Mike and others in this ever-changing world of NCAA compliance," said Tice. "I would be remiss not to acknowledge my team — the success I've had at Augustana is truly a reflection of the people around me, and I'm humbled to take on this additional role as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance knowing I have such a strong foundation beside me."

Tice's responsibilities as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance will include serving as the department's key institutional contact for NCAA compliance matters, overseeing student-athlete eligibility and managing areas including the NCAA Transfer Portal, playing and practice seasons, and transfer and international student-athlete certification.

"I am pleased that Chad and Jordan have expressed a willingness to take on additional administrative responsibilities that will provide a tangible benefit for Augustana Athletics and our student-athletes," said Zapolski. "The new administrative structure promises to be a 'win-win,' and I look forward to working closely with Chad and Jordan as they begin managing new tasks with the primary goals of enhancing our overall level of competitiveness and improving the student-athlete experience."

Both will begin their expanded duties effective immediately.
