3/21/2026 10:29:00 PM

Box Score GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team took to the road for a doubleheader, against the Eureka Red Devils and the Greenville Panthers on Saturday. The Vikings swept both matchups, winning each in four sets.

Game One vs Eureka: 25–22, 19–25, 25–19, 27–25

Kicking off a busy Saturday, the Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team picked up a win over the Eureka Red Devils.

Augustana worked through an even start in the opening set before beginning to create some separation. Kills from Jordan Schneckloth and Ryan Johnson helped spark a mid-set run that pushed the Vikings in front, and Augustana continued to build from there. Tommy Weber and Trevor Baldwin added key points as the lead grew, allowing the Vikings to hold off a late Eureka push and close out the set 25–22.

The second set saw Eureka grab the early momentum, but Augustana stayed within reach. Logan Kearns and Grayson Juel helped keep the Vikings in the mix as they worked to chip away at the deficit, and a late stretch brought Augustana back within striking distance. The Red Devils were able to hold their edge down the stretch, though, evening the match with a 25–19 set.

Augustana responded in the third with a more consistent stretch of play. After a tight opening, the Vikings started to pull away behind a strong run fueled by Bryce Lawson, who provided a spark offensively. Baldwin and Juel added to the push, and Augustana's presence at the net helped limit Eureka's chances. With the lead built, the Vikings carried it through the rest of the set and finished it off 25–19.

The fourth set carried the most weight and played out that way. Augustana jumped out to an early lead behind quick points from Kearns and Lawson, but Eureka battled back to even things up midway through. From there, the set turned into a back-and-forth exchange.

Late in the set, with Eureka holding set point, Augustana found another level. A clutch kill from Lawson kept the match alive, and the Vikings followed it up with strong play at the net, including a key block from Baldwin, to take control. Augustana closed the set 27–25, securing the match in a tight finish.

Game Two vs Greenville: 25–17, 25–17, 29–27, 20–25

With mere moments to reset, the Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team picked up where they left off, picking up back-to-back four set victories, this time against the Greenville Panthers.

Early points from Cole Clarke, Ryan Huntington, and Alexander Sulewski helped establish a rhythm in set one, and once the Vikings moved ahead, they kept the pressure on. Aidan Bolen helped drive that stretch, while Clarke and Sulewski came through again late as Augustana closed out the set comfortably.

The second set followed a different script early, with Greenville jumping out in front and forcing the Vikings to respond. Augustana stayed patient and began to close the gap one point at a time, never letting the deficit get out of hand. Bolen played a key role in that shift, and timely swings from Tom Lamb and Huntington helped turn the momentum. What was once a 19–17 deficit quickly flipped, as the Panthers surged ahead and pulled away to secure the 25–17 set.

Set three was the most intense of the match. Augustana held a slight edge early, but neither side could create much separation as the set wore on. Schaefer provided a boost from the service line, and contributions from Huntington, Clarke, Lamb, and Lawson kept the Vikings in position as things tightened late. Greenville reached set point first, but Augustana answered and extended the set. After a lengthy back-and-forth, the Vikings found the breakthrough they needed, finishing off a 29–27 third set victory.

Greenville pushed back in the fourth, building momentum through the middle of the set and putting Augustana in a position where it had to chase. The Vikings continued to fight for points, getting production from Bolen, Lamb, Sulewski, and Lawson, while a late ace from Schaefer helped keep things within reach. The Vikings ultimately held their advantage down the stretch and closed out the set 25–20.

With the sweep, the Vikings improved to 10-9 on the season. They get a chance to rest before returning to action on the road against Carthage on Saturday, March 28. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
