Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. – A dominant fourth quarter lifted the Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team to a 13–5 victory over Earlham on Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers struck first with two early goals, but the Vikings responded midway through the opening quarter. Santino Enea broke through at the 7:33 mark off a feed from Jamar Taylor to get Augustana on the board. Nik Schaafsma kicked off his big day with an unassisted goal to tie the score, and later converted a man-up opportunity with 27 seconds remaining in the quarter, finishing a pass from Jack Duffy to give Augustana a 3–2 lead after one.

Augustana added to its lead in the second quarter behind Eddie Resendez, who found the net unassisted with 6:09 remaining in the half. The Viking defense helped maintain control, limiting Earlham's chances while goalkeeper Hagan Quigley turned away multiple attempts to keep Augustana in front 4–2 at halftime.

The Vikings continued to extend their lead early in the third quarter when Jack Sergeant scored unassisted at the 10:42 mark. Resendez added his second goal of the game later in the period, finishing a pass from Taylor to push the lead to 6–2. Earlham responded late in the quarter with three unanswered goals, cutting the deficit to one and taking all the momentum heading into the final frame.

Augustana jumped on the Quakers defense immediately in the fourth quarter. Resendez opened the scoring just 48 seconds into the period, and Sergeant followed with another unassisted goal moments later to push the lead back to three. Sam Chapman-Rienstra added to the run midway through the quarter off an assist from Schaafsma, and the Vikings continued to create separation late. Schaafsma scored four goals over the final four minutes, including one assisted by Chapman-Rienstra, as Augustana pulled away for a 13-5 victory.

Schaafsma led all scorers with six goals and one assist. Resendez added three goals, while Sergeant chipped in two more. Enea and Chapman-Rienstra each added a goal, and Taylor recorded two assists. Quigley anchored the defensive effort in goal with multiple key saves as the Vikings held Earlham scoreless for the final 14 minutes.

Augustana improved to 2–1 on the season. The Vikings return home on Feb. 24 for their home opener against Cornell at Thorson-Lucken Field, with first draw set for 4 p.m.
