ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team closed out the 2025–26 season Saturday afternoon inside the Roy J. Carver Center, falling to No. 19 Illinois Wesleyan, 75–56. The afternoon also marked Senior Day, as Augustana honored its senior class prior to tipoff.
Marieon Anderson gave the Vikings an early jolt, knocking down a three on the opening possession, and Augustana stayed within reach through the opening minutes.
Dom Rhoden and
Dani Romero each added points at the line, while
Andre Klaver and
Cam Atkinson helped keep the offense moving as both teams traded possessions. Illinois Wesleyan began to create separation midway through the half, but Augustana responded late thanks to some pinpoint perimeter shooting. Klaver connected from deep, and threes from
Ethan Andre and Atkinson cut into the deficit in the closing minutes before a Titan jumper sent Augustana into the locker room trailing 34–27.
Out of the break, the Vikings continued to push.
Jake Willems scored inside, and Rhoden and Anderson added baskets as Augustana battled to close the gap. Anderson drilled a three to bring the Vikings within striking distance, and
Ethan Andre added another finish as the Vikings began to mount their comeback. Willems played a big role on both ends, controlling the glass and creating second chances for the surging Vikings. Illinois Wesleyan answered with a stretch of scoring midway through the half, finding small holes in the Vikings defense. Augustana battled back down the stretch, with Willems, Romero, and Rhoden adding late points, but the Titans defense stood tall late to lock up the road victory.
Willems and Rhoden led the Vikings with 11 points each, with Willems adding a team-high eight rebounds. Anderson finished with 10 points, while Atkinson added nine. Romero contributed seven points, and Andre provided five off the bench.
The Vikings closes the season at 10–15 overall and 5–11 in CCIW play.
