Box Score ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team earned an 11-4 victory over the Hanover Panthers in their season opener at Thorson-Lucken Field.

In the opening period, the Vikings scored five goals while holding Hanover scoreless. The Vikings grabbed three more in the second and holding the Panthers to just one to lead 8-1 entering the halftime break.

Returning to action, both teamss talklied two shots in the third period to make a score of 10-3. In the final period, both teams found the back of the net once to allow Augie to win 11-4. 

Becca Lacina led the team with four goals and an assist, while Elena Bechard followed with three, and Madison Langewisch grabbed two. Langewsich also grabbed five ground balls and won five draw conclusions. In goal, Eva Karjalahti had four saves in goal.

With the win, Augie starts the season 1-0. The team will be back in action on Feb. 21 to host Culver-Stockton.
