ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - For the penultimate game of the season, Augustana College women's soccer (5-7-4, 0-5-2) hosted Carthage College (3-6-8, 0-3-4) on Saturday. Minutes away from defeat, Augie managed to tie the match to secure a 2-2 draw.

How it Happened
First Half
Carthage was on the attack early, putting four shots on goal before the 10-minute mark, but Schinker stood tall and stopped every attempt. The next two shots on frame belonged to Augie, but neither Iara Moscovich or Jordyn Swanson were able to beat the Firebird keeper. After two more saves by Schinker and one by Carthage's goalie, Augustana finally broke through when Mowry finished a set-up from Gavigan, giving the Vikings a 1-0 lead at 31:12.
The Firebirds kept challenging Schinker, but she did not budge and made saves at 37:18 and 38:43. However, Carthage did eventually beat Augie's goalie at 40:50 and tied the game at 1-1. Carthage maintained their pressure until the end of the first half, putting two more shots on goal that Schinker turned away to send the game to halftime tied 1-1.
Second Half
This half it was Augie who came out firing as they saw two shots saved within the first 5:30 of the half. Schinker added another save to her total at 60:06 before nearly 10 minutes passed without a shot on goal. Caelan Cole was turned away at 69:39 before Schinker made another save two minutes later.
Carthage's next attempt did cross the goalline however, scoring at 77:42 to take a 2-1 lead. Following an unsuccessful shot on goal at 81:41, the Vikings found an equalizer with just 4:49 left on the clock thanks to Mowry's second goal of the game. Neither squad found the difference making in the closing minutes of the game, sealing the 2-2 tie.
