Â
First Half
Augustana had a pair of shots in the first 10 minutes, with Matt Donaghey's attempt being saved. After each team then fired a shot that missed, Fostiropolous potted the game's opening goal at 20:37 to give Augie a 1-0 lead.Â
Â
Millikin did their best to respond to Fostiropolous' goal. In the 9:30 minutes following the goal, the Big Blue fired four shots, but only one reached the goal and Banke made short work of it. Banke made another two saves at 33:32 and 37:20 before Augustana added to their lead thanks to Karubas' goal at 39:34.Â
Â
That was the final piece of offensive action in the opening 45 minutes, sending the teams to halftime with Augie up 3-0.
Â
Second Half
Fostiropolous challenged Millikin's keeper just two minutes into the second frame but was denied. After four missed shots, three coming from Millikin, Scupham got in on the scoring action. He had his shot saved at 57:56 but quickly bounced back and scored Augie's third goal less than two minutes later.Â
Â
Augie's defense then stepped up, limiting the Big Blue to just one shot for the remainder of the game and Banke made the stop to secure Augie's 3-0 win.Â
