ROCK ISLAND --  The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team fell to the UW-Platteville Pioneers on Saturday by a score of 4-2.

In the first half, UW-Platteville scored early to take the lead, but Augie's defense held them to just one. The Pioneers notched seven shots with five being on goal, while holding Augie to none. In goal, Sara Schinker stopped four of the five attempts on goal to keep the game within one after 45 minutes of play. 

After the halftime break, Ximena Osorio-Rodriguez scored off a pass by Skylar Swanson three minutes into the second half to tie the score 1-1. The Pioneers followed with a goal of their own six minutes later, off a penalty goal to regain the advantage. 10 minutes later, the visitors tallied two more successful shots to stretch the gap to 4-1. At 70:35, Swanson soared a shot in the back of the net to make a 4-2 score. A defensive battle held both teams to zero shots in the final 20 minutes of play, concluding the game with a final score of 4-2.

Schinker ended the game with five saves in her 90 minutes in goal. Osorio-Rodriguez led with two shots, while Swanson and Alyssa Mowry notched one. 

With the loss, Augie moves to 0-2-1 on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 9, to host Kalamazoo.
