KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's volleyball team opened conference action on Friday, falling to the Carthage Firebirds by a score of 2-0. 

Mallory Coley kicked off the first set with a successful attack from Leah Rizzo, but the Firebirds followed with nine points to take the lead. Carthage pulled away after a five-point run to make a 14-2 score. Three consecutive errors by the Firebirds moved the differential to 22-14, but Carthage took the first set 25-15. The home team ran away with the second set with a score of 25-8 to lead 2-0 overall.

In the third set, Carthage secured the early advantage with Augie getting as close as three after an attack error by the Firebirds to make a 10-7 score. Both teams rallied points, but Carthage obtained the final set by a score of 25-17.

Coley led the team with six kills, while Rizzo notched 14 assists and Katelyn Turley had 13 digs. 

The Vikings will be back in action tomorrow for the WLC Triangular at Wisconsin Lutheran.
