GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Four members of the Augustana Vikings baseball team have been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Tuesday. Augie's Brian Fischer, Alec McGinnis, Daniel Mosele, and Dymitri Kanellakis were among those recognized.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® baseball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Fischer, a junior from Centennial, Colo., is a business administration and management major at Augustana. He appeared in 18 games as a pitcher, with three starts for a total of 34.1 innings pitched. Fischer concluded the season with a 2.62 ERA and two saves, striking out 29 batters and allowing just four doubles. The junior secured a season-high of seven strikeouts on April 8 at Wheaton.
McGinnis, a fifth-year from Normal, Ill., studied business administration and management at Augie. He started in 36 of his 37 games at second base and finished the season with a .297 batting average with 35 hits, three home runs, and 12 RBI. In the field, the fifth-year obtained 71 putouts and 97 assists for a fielding percentage of .944. McGinnis secured a season-high of three hits, two home runs, three RBI, and three runs scored on March 21 against St. Olaf.
Mosele, a senior from Bloomington, Ill., graduated from Augsutana with a business administration major. He appeared in 38 games, starting 26 of them, at the shortstop position. The senior collected a batting average of .252 with 32 hits, four doubles, one home run, and batted in 21 runs. In the field, Mosele obtained 64 putouts and 109 assists for a fielding percentage of .935. On April 9, he notched a season-high of three runs batted in and one home run vs. Knox.
Kanellakis, a fifth-year from Cary, Ill., studied business administration and psychology at Augustana. He played in 27 games with 26 starts in the outfield and designated hitter spots of the lineup. The fifth-year earned a .295 batting average with 28 hits, three doubles, two triples, and 23 RBI this season. Kanellakis grabbed a season-high of three runs scored and five runs batted in on March 7 in the team's game against Baruch.
