BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will begin its postseason journey on Thursday, May 8 when the CCIW Tournament commences on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan.

Augustana earned the No. 2 overall seed after completing the regular season conference slate with a 12-4 record. The second-place finish earned the team spot in the double-bye portion of the bracket. Two single-elimination contests will take place first on Thursday, with the Vikings ready to play either No. 3 seeded Millikin or No. 6 seeded Wheaton.

On Wednesday, seven Vikings were named to the All-CCIW list, with four notching First Team accolades, the most since 2007. The seven selections are also the most for the program since 2009. Alexis Duke was crowned the CCIW First-Year Player of the Year. 

The Vikings' first game in the upcoming tournament will be final game of the night on Thursday. Augie went 3-1 this season against its potential opponents, splitting a road doubleheader against Millikin and sweeping Wheaton at home, both by run rule. The Big Blue currently sit with a 22-13 overall record and 10-5 mark in the conference, while Wheaton earned the final spot of the postseason tournament with a 5-11 record in the CCIW and 17-21 overall mark. The Vikings have won the last six meetings over the Thunder.

Admission to each day -- which is cash only -- is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors (65+) and children ages six and older. Children five and younger are free, as are CCIW students when presenting a valid student ID.
