Bergin and Hackman land First Team All-CCIW; Southwick named Second Team

NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Three members of the Augustana Vikings baseball team were recognized as part of the CCIW's All-Conference selections, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Charlie Bergin, a First Team honoree at first base, was ranked in the conference in six different categories. He led the team with a .377 batting average to rank No. 5 in the league, with 23 hits and 17 RBI in his 61 at-bats. Bergin also ranked No. 2 in on-base percentage at .500 and fifth in hit-by-pitches with seven. On the field, the sophomore obtained 134 putouts to rank No. 8 in the conference. Bergin also fielded 16 double plays at first base to rank No. 2 in the conference. He collected season-highs of three hits in their final game against Elmhurst, and batted six runs in vs. Illinois Wesleyan on April 12. Overall this season, he was atop the Vikings in OPS and fourth in home runs.

Kaileb Hackman notched First Team recognition at utility after collecting 27 hits to sit at No. 10 in the league in that category. His .365 batting average in conference was second on the Vikings and sat just outside the top 10 in the CCIW. He posted a .455 on-base percentage to place fifth in the conference and finished the season with 47 hits, 11 doubles, four home runs, and batted in 41 runs. As a utility, Hackman had 134 putouts with seven assists for a .972 fielding percentage. At Carthage on April 27, he collected a season-high of three hits, a home run, and four runs batted in. 

Addison Southwick, a Second Team selection, finished conference play with a 2.22 ERA in 24.1 innings pitched to rank No. 3 in the league. He also sat in seventh for saves with three and No. 9 in strikeouts with 27.  The fifth-year ended the season with a 2.98 ERA after 24 appearances, 42.1 innings pitched, and 41 strikeouts. On April 16 vs. Wheaton, Southwick posted a season-high of six strikeouts. 

Additionally, Brian Fischer was named the recipient of the CCIW RESPECT Award.
