DECATUR, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team did not allow a single earned run on Sunday in a split with the Millikin Big Blue. Augie fell in the opener by a score of 2-1 before winning game two with a final of 5-0.
In game one, the home team pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the top half of the first and the two teams played to a scoreless tie through two innings of action. Millikin got on the board first in the bottom of the third, capitalizing on a one-out error and using a stolen base and single up the middle to plate the first run.Â
Alexis Duke broke up the shutout and Millikin no-hitter in the sixth with a solo home run to even the score at 1-1. The Big Blue earned the walkoff win via an error in the bottom of the seventh to claim the opening-game victory.

In game two, the offenses combined for just two hits through the first two innings. Augustana posted the first scoring threat of the game in the bottom of the third, loading up the bases with just one out. The Vikings scratched across the first run of the contest in the ensuing inning, beginning with a one-out triple by
Teagan Nees to left field.
Haley Nelson followed with a single during the next at-bat to bring in Nees and give Augie the early lead.Â
Augustana double its lead in the fifth with another tally after loading the bases with two walks and a base hit.
Emily Gad connected on a sac fly to bring in
Maya Viel and make it a 2-0 advantage. The Vikings added on with three more in the sixth, collecting a pair of run-scoring extra-base hits from
