KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team fell to the Carthage Firebirds on Saturday by a score of 21-2.
Carthage scored the first two in the opening quarter before Madison Langewisch found the back of the net with an assist by Becca Lacina to create a 2-1 game. The Firebirds followed with five more points to make a 7-1 score after 15 minutes of play.
In the second quarter, Carthage put up six points before Langewisch notched her second goal of the day in a woman-up free position shot to move the game to 13-2. The Firebirds closed the first half with three successful goals to create a 16-2 score entering halftime. Carthage tallied two in the third quarter and three more in the fourth, while holding Augie scoreless to take the game 21-2.
Colleen Chiavola caused two turnovers and Dylon Karjalahti and Lanie Cecala combined for 10 saves in the net.
With the loss, Augie moves to 4-8 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. The team will be back in action next Saturday for a conference battle against Elmhurst on the road.
