IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings baseball team fell to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Tuesday by a score of 16-1.
After a scoreless first inning, Iowa got on the board first in the bottom of the second. In the top of the third, Dymitri Kanellakis singled to third base before he stole second. Kaileb Hackman batted him home following a single to the left side to even the game at 1-1. Augie battled with Iowa and remained within two heading into the seventh inning. The Hawkeyes tallied 13 runs in their final two at-bats to run away with the 16-1 victory.
As a team, the Vikings had 12 hits with Kanellakis leading with four. Daniele Mosele and Ryan Coon also posted multi-hit performances.
The Vikings will be back in action on March 14-16 to host three teams in the Augustana Invitational.
