ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will play its first games at Carver Field on Tuesday, March 11 when they welcome the Coe Kohawks for a non-conference doubleheader.

Augustana enters at 4-0 on the season and will be playing in its first contest since February 21. The Vikings went 4-0 over a two-day stay at the Blue Angel Invite in Peoria, picking up a wins over No. 23 UW-Stevens Point, Mount Mary, Edgewood, and Knox. The team boasted two big offensive outings, scoring 15 against Mount Mary and 14 versus Knox, while also grinding out come-from-behind victories over the nationally-ranked Pointers and Eagles of Edgewood. Against Edgewood, Augie erased a 5-4 deficit in its final at-bat, which saw a walk-off hit by Alaina Diaz to seal the win. Diaz currently leads the Vikings in RBI with five so far in 2025, while Emma Schmidt is the team leader in batting average at .600.

Coe currently sits at 0-4 on the season after dropping all four games at the Wash U Invite on February 22-23. The Kohawks, who entered the season ranked in the NFCA preseason poll, dropped a pair of close battles to St. Catherine and two games by run rule to previously-ranked Wash U. The team was scheduled to participate in the Grinnell Invite last weekend, but it was canceled. Coe finished the 2024 season with a 34-11 record and was the champion of both its conference tournament and NCAA regional pod. The Kohawks won all three games at regionals before falling to Case Western Reserve at Super Regionals.

The Vikings are 5-16 all-time vs. the Kohawks and will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak in the series. The two teams last met in 2019 at Coe, with the Kohawks grabbing both games played.
