ASHWUABENON, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team capped off a 3-0 weekend on Sunday with a 7-0 victory over the St. Norbert Green Knights.
Augie claimed two of three doubles matches to begin the contest, winning at the No. 2 and 3 spots to bring a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Santiago Diaz and
Aingeru Garcia picked up a 6-1 victory at No. 2, while
Henry Galloway and
Grant Meyers secured a 6-3 decision at No. 3 for the Vikings.
All six singles matchups went in favor of Augustana, with
Nicolas Navarro leading the charge at the top spot with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph.
Timothee Philip collected a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2, while Diaz made quick work of his opponent at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-0 score.
Kay Woldringh Castillo won at No. 4 with a final of 6-4, 6-1 and Garcia was victorious at No. 6 by a score of 6-2, 6-4 to complete the two-set wins. Meyers won the lone third-set contest, coming back from a 6-0 defeat in set one with a 6-2 win in the second. Meyers out-scored his counterpart in the tiebreaker, 10-5.
With the win, Augustana improves to 4-1 on the season. The team will be back in action February 22 at Lake Forest.Â
