ASHWAUBENON, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team begin its stay at the St. Norbert Invite on Friday night, taking down the host Green Knights by a score of 5-2.
Augie claimed all three doubles matches to begin the contest with a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
Hannah Colbert and
Colleen Larry were victorious at the No. 1 position with a final score of 6-2, while
Natasha Gauerke and
Maripaz Ramirez earned the win at No. 2 by a final of 7-5. At No. 3,
Maddy Harned and
Kassidy Anderson defeated their opponent with a score of 6-4.
In singles, four of the six matches went in favor of Augie, led by Colbert's second win of the day at No. 1 with a score of 6-2, 6-2. Larry also notched her second victory of the night, winning in consecutive sets at No. 3, while Gauerke secured a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 4. Harned helped wrap up the team win for the Vikings with a 7-6, 6-1 triumph at No. 5. Both of the wins for the Green Knights came in three sets to complete the 5-2 final score.
With the win, Augustana improves to 4-5 on the season. The team will be back in action tomorrow against Hamline and UW-Superior.
