KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday, falling on the road to the Kalamazoo Hornets by a score of 5-2.
The Hornets secured two of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Arthur Hermange and
David Larraga earned the lone win for Augie at the No. 1 position, taking down their opponent by a score of 6-3. Kalamzoo claimed the other two contests by a score of 6-4 each way.
In singles, the Hornets won two of the first three matches to finish to go up 3-1 in the match. Hermange won the first point for the Vikings at No. 1, defeating his counterpart by a final of 6-2, 6-4. The Hornets collected wins in two of the final three as well to complete the 5-2 victory.
Saman Rezaeyan earned the other decision for Augustana with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) win at No. 5.
With the loss, the Vikings drop to 5-2 on the season. The team will be back in action March 1 at Coe.
