Box Score CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team won a close battle over the Coe Kohawks on Saturday by a score of 4-3.
The Kohawks took the early 1-0 lead in the match after winning two of the three doubles contests.
Saman Rezaeyan and
Timothee Philip were victorious for the Vikings at the No. 3 slot by a score of 6-3, but Coe notched wins in the other matchups to claim the point.
In singles,
Arthur Hermange took down his opponent at the No. 1 position by a score of 6-4, 6-2, while Rezaeyan made quick work of his counterpart at No. 3 by a final of 6-1, 6-2.
Santiago Diaz also came out on top at No. 5 after earning 6-4, 6-3 decision. The Kohawks grabbed a three-set win at No. 2 and a victory at No. 4, setting up a 3-3 deadlock with one match remaining.
Kay Woldringh Castillo clinched the tie-breaking contest with a 6-4, 6-4 score at No. 6 to secure the overall victory for Augustana.
With the win, the Vikings improve to 6-2 on the season. The team will be back in action tomorrow at No. 12 Wash U.
