ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team will begin its 2025-26 campaign on Tuesday, Nov. 11, when they welcome the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors to the Carver Center.
Augustana will enter the new year under second-year coach
Jordan Delp, who led the Vikings to a 17-10 overall record and 9-7 in conference play. The team boasts four seniors and three key returners from 2024-25. Augie was picked to finish sixth in the CCIW Preseason Coaches Poll after finishing fourth a season ago. The Vikings were 11-2 on their home court a year ago and will open the season at home before two road games to begin the season. Augustana won its final three games in the Carver Center, highlighted by an 85-76 win over then No. 11 Illinois Wesleyan and followed with a 92-78 victory over Elmhurst in the opening round of the CCIW Tournament. The team is 4-1 in the last five home openers, with the team collecting an 82-70 win against Coe a season ago.
The Warriors finished the 2024-25 season with a 27-4 overall record and 11-2 in road matchups. Wisconsin Lutheran finished second in the NACC Tournament and punched a ticket to the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. During their time in the tournament, the team saw victories over No. 11 Calvin and No. 2 UW-Platteville before a tough loss to No. 17 WashU in the Sweet 16 by a score of 59-56. Wisconsin Lutheran opened its season on Saturday against Luther, which resulted in a 75-70 loss. Sophomore Lucas Anamndu led the team with 17 points, and Ja'Quell Chisom collected a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Warriors finished at 41.3 percent (26-for-63) shooting and held a 36-34 edge on the glass.
Tuesday will be the third time the teams will meet, with both teams winning a game. The Warriors secured the victory in Milwaukee, Wis., a season ago on Dec. 31 by a score of 68-54.
Staishaun Kelley led the team with 10 points, three rebounds, and a steal, while
Ray Maurchie collected 11 rebounds and six points.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
