NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team fell to the North Central Cardinals on Sunday by a score of 5-2.
In doubles play, Maripas Ramirez and Anna Maria Huebel were victorious in the No. 2 spot with a 6-3 score. In the No. 3 position,
Kassidy Anderson and
Maddy Harned defeated the Cardinals 7-6. With the two wins, Augie led 1-0 entering singles action.
In the singles competition,
Maitreyi Shrikhande defeated her opponent at No. 6 to secure the Vikings' second team point. Harned had a strong showing in the No. 5 spot, forcing three sets after the first two sets went to tiebreakers.
With the loss, Augie moves to 3-2 on the season and will be back in action on Oct. 8 to continue the road streak at Elmhurst.
