Box Score WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team dropped a narrow 1-0 road decision to the Carroll Pioneers on Saturday afternoon.
After a scoreless opening half that saw Augustana hold Carroll to just five shots on goal, the Pioneers broke through in the 79th minute with the lone tally of the match. The Vikings created several chances of their own, producing 10 total shots and three on goal, but were unable to find the equalizer.
Jacob Roffman and Sebastian Trujillo each placed shots on frame, while Javi Landin and Fer Cuahquentzi added attempts to pressure the Carroll defense. Augustana also earned seven corner kicks, including multiple opportunities in the second half.
Goalkeeper William Gabrielsson had a strong performance in net, only allowing one goal while facing 14 Pioneer shots. Defensively, Nico Linaje and Diego San Pedro logged 90 and 74 minutes, respectively, helping to anchor a back line that kept the game within reach until the final whistle.
With the result, Augustana moves to 3-4-2 overall and 1-1 in CCIW play. The Vikings will return to action on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. against North Central.
