CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings football team will be back on the road Saturday, Oct. 4, for a showdown against the North Park Vikings.

Augustana currently sits at 2-1 on the season and 1-1 mark in the CCIW. The team recently defeated the Millikin Big Blue at home by a score of 33-6 this past Saturday. Augie quickly opened the game with a recovered muffed punt to set up an 18-yard passing touchdown from Jimmy Makuh to Breyden Smith. In the Vikings' second offensive showing, Makuh completed a pass to Ethan Vrabec for 35 yards, and Ben Ludlum followed with a rush down the middle for a six-yard gain for another Augustana touchdown. The team closed the opening quarter with a blocked extra point by Zach Gray, which Peter Stapleton recovered to make a 14-6 score. In the second, Josh Lim rushed up the middle for four yards into the endzone after an 11-play drive. Jacob Garbett closed the following drive with a 35-yard field goal to close the half 24-6.

Fresh off halftime, Millikin saw a bad snap on the punt attempt to push the ball to the back of the end zone for a safety. In the next offensive showing, Ludlum saw four rushing plays for 13 yards, and Lim followed with a 20-yard rushing gain to score once more. In the final 15 minutes of play, both teams had two drives, but neither team was able to find the end zone, resulting in a 33-6 game conclusion.

Makuh finished the day with 20 completions on 25 attempts for 174 yards. Lim led with 12 attempts, with 81 yards and two touchdowns, while Ludlum had 53 yards on nine attempts. Vrabec received four passes for 58 yards, and Smith had 44 yards on six receptions. On the defensive side, Toby Splitt led the Vikings with a total of 10 tackles, with eight being solo and two assisted. TJ Klein sacked the Millikin quarterback twice for a total of 19 yards. Jacob Tyrcha collected 132 yards on his four punt attempts.

North Park enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-1 and sits at 1-1 in conference play. The Vikings are returning to action after defeating Elmhurst last Saturday by a score of 34-6. North Park set the tone early after a defensive lineman blocked a 25-yard field goal attempt and a defensive back scooped up the ball for an 85-yard touchdown. The team continued the scoring after the sophomore quarterback connected a pass for 80 yards, before another 16-yard pass for another touchdown. Elmhurst responded but had another block extra point attempt to make a 16-6 score at halftime. In the second half, North Park continued to stretch the gap to 34-6 with nine minutes remaining in the game. The Vikings' defense closed the game with two interceptions and a sack. The team collected 429 yards on the offense with Aidan Delisi leading with 99 yards on the ground and two touchdowns, while Cailix Dillon passed for 189 yards and a score. Levi Sheehan paced the receiving corps with 52 yards and a touchdown.

Augie holds a 57-5 all-time series record over North Park, with Augustana falling in double overtime by a score of 30-27 a season ago.
