GREENWOOD, Ind. –
Breyden Smith of Augustana Vikings football has been named the 184
th College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American in school history, the organization announced Tuesday. Smith is the 34
th selection all-time for the Augustana football program and the first to be named an Academic All-American for Augie football since Michael Daniels in 2016.
Named a Second Team Academic All-American in the special teams category, Smith was a First Team All-CCIW specialist and Second Team honoree on offense this season. He was the CCIW leader in both total punt return yards and punt return average and was sixth in kick return yardage. Earlier in the year, he set the record for most kick return yards for a career at Augustana. On offense, Smith was top 10 in the conference in nearly all receiving categories, including fourth in both receptions and receptions per game.
In early December, Smith was named to the D3football.com All-Region Team as a returner. He was a two-time CCIW Special Teams Player of the Week in 2024.
Smith is a double major at Augustana studying Business Marketing and Political Science.
