JACKSONVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team will venture on the road for its first game away from this season when they take on the Illinois College Lady Blue on Wednesday, September 4.

Augustana enters the mid-week showdown with a 1-0 overall record, recently defeating Concordia-Chicago last Friday at home. Liesl Whitener secured the first goal of the game for the Vikings nearly three minutes in, which proved to be the game-winner as the team went on to score twice more in the opening 45 minutes. Jordyn Swanson and Alyssa Mowry rounded out an explosive first half with an unassisted tally in the final 10 minutes to put Augie out in front 3-0 at the halftime break. Sara Schinker stopped two saves in goal in the first half in her first game in an Augustana uniform.

The two teams played just over a half hour or scoreless action to begin the second half, but the Vikings found the back of the net once more in the 77th minute. Swanson sent a middle ball from the left side that was deflected by Ximena Osorio-Rodriguez to set up Mary Baker's first collegiate goal. Augie out-shot Concordia 9-2 in each of the two halves and Mary Pietras boasted a scoreless effort in net in the second to complete the 4-0 win for the Vikings.

Illinois College is also 1-0 this season after earning a 1-0 win over Nebraska Wesleyan in its opener. The Lady Blue scored the first and only tally of the game just five minutes in and held on for the shutout despite facing eight Nebraska Wesleyan shots. Illinois College is coming off a 7-9-2 campaign in 2023, but was over .500 at home, posting a 5-4-1 record.

Augustana has won all three of the all-time meetings over Illinois College, including last season's 2-1 victory at home. The Vikings also won the year prior down in Jacksonville, a 7-1 triumph.

Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
