DECATUR, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team earned its second straight 7-0 win on Saturday, defeating the Millikin Big Blue on the road to improve to 2-1 in the CCIW.
All three doubles matches were won by Augie, with the No. 3 spot going to the Vikings by default. The tandem of
Maitreyi Shrikhande and
Natasha Gauerke made quick of their opponent at No. 2 by a 6-0 score, while
Hannah Colbert and Collleen Larry took down their opponent at the top spot by a final of 6-4. Augustana led 1-0 heading into singles.
The Vikings were victorious in all six singles matchups. The No. 5 and 6 spots were also awarded to Augie by default to give the Vikings a 3-0 team lead before play even started. Shrikhande continued her successful outing, earning another quick decision following a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4.
Anna-Maria Huebel and Larry secured straight-set wins at the No. 2 and 3 positions, while Colbert grabbed her second three-set triumph in as many days to complete the perfect outing for the Vikings.
With the win, Augustana improves to 2-1 on the year. The team will be back in action Tuesday at home vs. Elmhurst.
