BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis picked up a conference road victory over the Illinois Wesleyan Titans on Friday, winning by a score of 7-0.
Two of the three doubles matches went in favor of Augustana to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Natasha Gauerke and
Maitreyi Shrikhande earned a 6-3 decision at the No. 2 spot, while
Hattie Timerman and
Maddy Harned coasted to a 6-1 triumph at No. 3.
In singles, the Vikings claimed all six contests to complete the sweep. Harned made quick work of her opponent at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory, while
Anna-Maria Huebel was close behind at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-2 final score. Gauerke earned a pair of 6-3 wins at No. 4 and Shrikhande grabbed a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 5 to continue the success for Augie. At No. 3,
Colleen Larry won her first set 6-3 before hanging on with a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreaker to decide the second.
Hannah Colbert won the final match at No. 1, securing a 10-7 third-set tiebreaker.
With the victory, Augie improves to 1-1 on the season. The team will be back in action tomorrow at Millikin.
