ROCK ISLAND -- Augustana head baseball coach Greg Wallace has announced the promotion of Justin Hauer to Associate Head Coach.

I am excited to announce Coach Hauer as Associate Head Baseball Coach of the program," said Wallace. "Justin has been an extremely loyal and dedicated member of the coaching staff since the fall of 2016. His ability to manage a number of responsibilities has been remarkable, and his productivity in the roles of recruiting coordinator and pitching coach have been key components to the program's success the past eight seasons."

As the pitching coach at Augustana, Hauer has coached 13 All-Region pitchers, two All-Americans, one CCIW Pitcher of the Year, and the 2023 Division III Pitcher of the Year. Since joining in 2017, the Vikings have boasted a 218-96-1 record.

Hauer joined the Vikings for the 2017 season after two seasons as the pitching coach at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois. He also served as an assistant coach at Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill. for one year and as an undergraduate assistant at his alma mater, Illinois State University, in 2013. During Hauer's two seasons at Heartland, the Hawks posted an impressive 89-28 record. His hurlers recorded an earned run average of 2.93 and fanned a total of 807 batters in 828 innings. Black Hawk went 31-21 in Hauer's single season as a Braves assistant.

"I'd like to thank Coach Wallace for his guidance and leadership," said Hauer. "I look forward to working together with him to continue the great tradition of Augustana baseball."

A graduate of Alleman Catholic High School in Rock Island, Illinois, Hauer earned an associate's degree in general education from Black Hawk before moving on to Illinois State, where he graduated with his bachelor's in kinesiology.

Hauer enjoyed an outstanding collegiate playing career. In two seasons at Black Hawk, he compiled a 12-2 record on the mound with an ERA of 2.78. He went 9-1 as a sophomore, when he also batted .367 as an infielder. At Illinois State, he twice earned All-Missouri Valley honorable mention, making a total of 63 appearances for the Redbirds in two years. He posted a 6-1 record with an ERA of 2.26 and fanned 75 batters in 71.2 innings.
