ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team officially opens their 2024 season on Friday, August 30, when they host the Simpson Storm at Thorson-Lucken Field.

The Vikings enter the 2024 year after finishing 0-14-2 in 2023 and 0-8 in conference play. After a rocky start, Augie managed to strengthen their offense to notch three goals in CCIW action to conclude the season. 

Simpson returns to action after finishing 7-10-1 last season. Five of their seven games were won on their territory. The Storm tied with Luther in postseason action to conclude their 2023 season. Simpson's top scorer Ronaldo Ordaz returns this season after notching 13 goals and 11 assists last year. 

Both teams have won eight games against each other with three ties. Last season, Simpson secured a 4-0 win in both team's campaign openers in Indianola, Iowa.

Start time on Friday is scheduled for 7 p.m.
