CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings baseball team will travel to the home of the North Park Vikings on Wednesday, May 8 for the first game of the 2024 CCIW Tournament. The No. 5-seeded Vikings open the conference tournament against the No. 4 North Central Cardinals.

Augie ended their regular season with an overall record of 24-15 and 10-10 in conference play, currently riding a six-game winning streak. The Vikings return to action after a three-game weekend on Friday and Saturday, opening the weekend with a 4-3 victory against Carroll before adding two more wins against Carthage on Saturday by scores of 5-4 and 4-2. In the most recent matchup against Carthage, the Vikings totaled 11 hits, with Grant Biggins, Heath Perry, and Charlie Bergin collecting two apiece, while Bergin batted two runs in. Riley Fuller earned the win on the mound with five innings pitched and two strikeouts, which helped secure him the CCIW Pitcher of the Week honor.

North Central finished the regular season with an overall record of 18-22 and 11-9 in the CCIW. The Cardinals return to action after a three-game sweep against Elmhurst last weekend. In their most recent outing, North Central collected an 18-3 win in seven innings and totaled 17 hits, with four coming from Luke Lehnen, while Taylor Kujak batted four runs in. The Cardinals own a 4-7 neutral record, with their last neutral-site game resulting in a 9-5 loss to No. 3 Baldwin Wallace on March 17.

The Vikings hold a 94-91 all-time record over the Cardinals, with Augie taking the season series with wins in two of three meetings. Last season during the 2023 CCIW Tournament, the Vikings secured a 7-4 victory over the Cardinals to advance to the CCIW Championship.

Augie will be the second game played on Wednesday, scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The live stream can be viewed here.
