NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team travels to the home of the North Central Cardinals on Saturday, April 6 for the season's first conference game.
The Vikings sit at 1-6 on the season and return to action after an 11-7 loss against MSOE on March 28. In the first quarter, MSOE scored the first two points before Madison Langewisch found the back of the net to make it a 2-1 score. The Vikings outscored MSOE 3-2 in the second, with goals from Elena Bechard, Colleen Chiavola, and Langewisch closing out the first half to even the score. After the break, MSOE pulled away from Augie with a 6-0 frame to make it a 10-4 score entering the final quarter. The final 15 minutes of play started with a 3-0 spurt from Augie, but MSOE added one more to conclude the game 11-7.
Langewisch led with three goals, while Bechard had two. Narita Lambert had seven ground balls and five caused turnovers, while Langewisch won five draw controls.
North Central owns a 5-3 record on the season and enters the contest after a 14-4 victory against Pacific on March 26. As a team, the Cardinals made 14 of their 30 attempts, with four coming from Abby MacKenzie. Tori Leonard and Madison Smith caused two turnovers and MacKenzie won nine draw controls. North Central has a 4-1 home record this season, with their last matchup being the win against Pacific. Augie holds a 9-6 all-time record over the Cardinals, with North Central grabbing a 15-8 victory on April 22, 2023 in the most recent outing.
