Men’s volleyball travels for conference showdown against No. 7 Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team travels north for the final regular season match against the No. 7 Carthage Firebirds on Saturday, April 6. 

The Vikings are currently 18-5 on the season and 5-4 in conference play and return to action after falling to No. 5 Loras on Wednesday in three sets. Aidan Bolen led the Vikings with 14 kills, while Sean Carlson followed with 12. Colin Schaefer had 46 assists, Max Sellers had 12 digs, and Ben Schultz and Ty Heater each had a solo block. Two of the three sets in the match were decided by just two points, including a 30-28 set two victory for Loras.

Carthage owns a 16-5 overall record and sits at 8-1 in conference play. The Firebirds enter the contest after a 3-1 victory against North Park on Wednesday. As a team, Carthage hit .269, while their opponent obtained .245. Keegan Brumitt led with 11 kills, while Gene McNulty had 45 assists and Ethan Sprague had seven blocks. The Firebirds have a 7-0 home record this season, with their last matchup a 3-1 win over No. 4 Loras last Saturday. Carthage holds an 11-0 all-time record over Augie, with the Firebirds grabbing a 3-1 victory on March 16 last time out. 

The Vikings can wrap up the No. 3 seed in the upcoming CCIW Tournament with a win over Carthage or a North Central loss against Loras.
