BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will be back in action on Saturday, April 6 when they visit the Illinois Wesleyan Titans for the first game of the CCIW slate.

Augustana currently sits at 3-5 on the season and is coming off a dominant 24-2 victory over Mount St. Joseph last Friday. The Vikings scored the game's first five points and mirrored their five-point opening frame with another in the second to take a 10-1 lead into halftime. Augie broke the game open in the third with 10 goals through 15 minutes before holding the Lions scoreless in the final period to complete the 22-point victory. The 24 goals are the most since the 2019 season for Augie and ties the second-most ever scored in a game in program history.

As a team, the Vikings finished with multiple top-ten efforts in the record book, including a program-high 81 shots in the win. The team also had 17 assists, good for fourth-most in the record book, and 27 faceoffs won, the second-most all-time. Brady Holtz led all scorers with six goals, followed by Jake Moore with five and Jack Connolly with four. Carson Ghys and Connolly also contributed three assists each, while Trevor Herman and Eddie Resendez combined 27-30 in faceoffs. Herman also added 10 ground balls. Defensively, the Vikings caused 13 turnovers, led by Ethan Shap's three.

Illinois Wesleyan enters the weekend with a 6-3 overall record and is riding a four-game winning streak dating back to March 16. The Titans recently picked up a 16-11 home win over Dubuque on Wednesday, out-scoring the Spartans 9-4 in the opening half to help them pull away. Illinois Wesleyan is led this season by two 20-goal scorers, with Gage Black leading the way with 26 on the year. The Titans boast a perfect 4-0 record this season on their home field.

Augie is 2-10 all-time vs. Illinois Wesleyan. The Titans defeated the Vikings last season in Bloomington by a score of 22-4. Holtz led the team with two goals.
