ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team dropped the final game of the season to the Carthage Firebirds on Saturday, falling by a final of 24-3.

Carthage used a strong opening quarter to generate a 9-0 margin after 15 minutes of action. The visitors made it 10 in a row to start the game early in the second, but Augie halted the momentum on a man-up goal by Jack Connoll on assist from Jake Moore. The Firebirds scored four more times to take a 14-1 lead into the halftime break.

Carthage posted a 5-0 margin in the third to extend its lead to 19-1 heading into the final frame. Augie saw scores from Moore and Graesser in the fourth, but the Firebirds saw five more shots find the back of the net to complete the 24-3 victory.

Trevor Herman posted a team-high six ground balls in the loss, while Zach Reser added two caused turnovers. Gus Magnusson notched 18 saves in net.

With the loss, Augustana ends its season with a 4-10 record.
