WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will play a pair of road doubleheaders this upcoming weekend, beginning Saturday, April 20 with a non-conference showdown against the Wartburg Knights.

Augustana currently sits with a 16-8 overall record and 5-3 mark in the CCIW, recently collecting two victories over the Eureka Red Devils on Wednesday. The Vikings won game one by run rule by a score of 10-2 before taking the finale, 10-5. Augustana posted nine hits in the game-one win, led by a 3-3 effort from Nadia Ranieri and two hits from Morgan Bielfeldt. Lauren Koster claimed the win on the mound after allowing just one run in three innings of work. In game two, the Vikings pounded 13 hits in game two, led by three apiece from Kennedy Williams and Ranieri. Mikaylin Hofer grabbed her second win of the year on the mound, while Ranieri struck out seven in three innings of relief.

On Saturday, Augie will face the Knights on the road, who currently sit with an 18-11 overall record. Wartburg has won two straight games, recently defeating Simpson twice in a doubleheader last Saturday. The Knights have won eight of their last 10 contests and are led by a pair of .366 hitters in Kaylie Springer and Reagan Hassel. Wartburg boasts a 9-1 record on its home field this season, with the lone defeat coming on the back end of a doubleheader against UW-La Crosse on March 28.

The Vikings are 5-6 all-time against the Knights, with Saturday being the first meeting between the two programs since 2017. Wartburg won that meeting down in Florida by a score of 10-2.

Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.

On Sunday, Augustana will resume CCIW action against Carroll in Waukesha, Wis. The Pioneers currently possess a 9-17 overall record and 3-5 mark in the CCIW. The team recently split a conference doubleheader with Wheaton on Tuesday, winning game one by a score of 3-0 before dropping game two by a final of 14-4. Carroll is led this season by Sophia Schmidt and Abby Curtis, who both own batting averages above .360. The Pioneers are 1-3 on their home field this season, with the lone win coming on April 14 in a 6-0 victory over Carthage.

Carroll leads the all-time series 13-6 over Augie. The Vikings swept a home doubleheader last season to break a four-game losing streak to the Pioneers.

Start time on Sunday is scheduled for noon.
