ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will be back at home on Saturday, April 20 to host the Carroll Pioneer for Senior Day.
Augustana enters with matchup with a 3-8 overall record and 0-2 mark in the CCIW, recently falling in overtime to the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees by a score of 14-13. After a back-and-forth contest, St. Ambrose went back out by two after a man-down and man-up score late in the fourth quarter.
Carson Ghys pulled the Vikings within one with his fifth goal of the contest prior to
Brady Holtz tying up the score with a goal at the 3:30 mark. The two teams played scoreless through the remainder of regulation, which included several last-minute defensive stops by Augie to force an extra period. The Bees scored on the final possession of the first and only overtime session to earn the 14-13 victory.
Carroll currently sits with a 6-7 overall record and an 0-2 mark in conference. The Pioneers are enduring a two-game losing streak, recently falling to Carthage by a score of 21-2 on Wednesday. The team is led this season by a trio of 20-goal scorers, including team-leader Luke Bridges with 21. Carroll is 3-5 on the road this season, with its last game away from home resulting in a 17-9 loss at North Central on April 13.
Augustana has never lost to Carroll in their short history, winning all eight encounters. The Vikings were victorious last season in Rock Island by a score of 12-3. Ghys,
Elijah Graesser, and
Jack Connolly all scored twice in the win.
Start time on Saturday is scheduled for noon from Thorson-Lucken Field.
