ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's water polo team will play in its first and only home game of the season on Saturday, March 9 when they welcome in the McKendree Bearcats to the Anne Greve Lund Natatorium.

Augustana currently sits at 7-3 on the season and is coming off a 2-2 showing at the competitive Claremont Convergence over the weekend in Southern California. Augie picked up two wins over Caltech and Occidental, with the two games lost coming against No. 6 Chapman by a point and Fresno Pacific in the finale. On Thursday, the Vikings earned all three CWPA weekly awards for the third time this season, with Casey Barragan earning Player of the Week for the third time as well. Lizzie Pelzman notched her second CWPA Defensive Player of the Week honor, while Waiahuli Akau was named Rookie of the Week.

McKendree enters Saturday with an 8-6 overall record and has won eight of its last 10 contests after beginning the season 0-4. McKendree is also coming off a trip to the Claremont Convergence, where they sported a 2-2 record. The Bearcats fell to Fresno Pacific and Cal East Bay, but picked up victories over Caltech and Whittier. Prior to this past weekend, McKendree enjoyed a string of six straight wins, including a 4-0 stay at the Macalester Invite. The Bearcats are 2-1 in true road contests this season, with the lone loss coming in overtime at VMI back on February 4.

Saturday will be the sixth all-time meeting between the two programs and the second this season. The Bearcats are 5-0 against the Vikings, and won this year's season opener at home by a score of 11-8. Barragan scored four times in the defeat for Augie.
