LISLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will be back in action on Saturday, March 9 when they hit the road to face the Benedictine Eagles in a non-conference matchup.
Augie is currently 0-2 on the year, recently falling in its home opener on Wednesday to Dubuque by a score of 17-4. The visiting Spartans used a big opening half that saw 13 goals scored to pull away from the Vikings. The second half featured a much more low-scoring affair, but the Vikings were unable to get it going offensively despite holding Dubuque to just four second-half tallies.
Jake Moore notched all four goals for the Vikings in the defeat, while
Elijah Graesser and
Brady Holtz each added an assist.
Benedictine enters the weekend sporting an 0-3 record so far this season. The Eagles have been a part of three high-scoring contests, with their recent resulting in a 20-14 home loss to Kalamazoo. Saturday will be the third CCIW foe that Benedictine has faced this season already, dropping the first two games of the year to both North Central and Illinois Wesleyan. The Eagles were clipped by the Cardinals at home by just two points before falling on the road to the Titans by a final of 24-8. Will Robinson owns 13 of the team's 36 goals scored this season.
This weekend will serve as the ninth all-time meeting between Augustana and Benedictine, with the Vikings holding a 6-2 record in the series. The two teams met two years ago in Lisle, resulting in a 12-8 win for the Eagles.
Start time on Saturday is scheduled for 1 p.m.
