ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will host the Dubuque Spartans on Wednesday, March 6 for its first game of the season at Thorson-Lucken Field.
Augie sits at 0-1 on the year after a season-opening road loss to Calvin back on February 24. Augustana got on the board first with a man-up tally fromÂ
Carson Ghys on a pass fromÂ
Elijah Graesser, but the home team scored three times to close out the first 15 minutes and bring a 3-1 lead into the second. Calvin pulled away with a five-spot while holding Augie scoreless to make it an 8-1 advantage at the break.
Following a Knights goal to begin the third,Â
Brady Holtz notched the second score of the day for the Vikings, capitalizing on an another man-up advantage to bring Augie within seven. Calvin secured the game's final six points to complete the 15-2 win.Â
Trevor Herman grabbed six ground balls and was 10-13 on faceoffs for Augie, whileÂ
Zach Reser led the team with three caused turnovers.Â
