ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team dropped a competitive battle to the DePauw Tigers on Wednesday, falling by a score of 6-3.
DePauw snagged the early advantage after a pair of 8-4 wins at No. 2 and 3 doubles, but the Vikings salvaged a point at No. 1 with an 8-6 victory by
Arthur Hermange and
David Larraga. The Tigers earned wins at four of six singles matches, with one coming in three sets at No. 4, to seal the 6-3 team win.
Hermange went 2-0 on the day after winning his No. 1 singles contest by a score of 6-4, 6-1, while
Nicolas Navarro defeated his counterpart at No. 6 by a final of 7-5, 7-5.
With the loss, Augustana drops to 11-5 on the season. The team will be back in action on April 6 to begin CCIW play at Elmhurst.
