NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's volleyball will travel for a conference battle against the No. 11 North Central Cardinals on Wednesday, March 20.
The Vikings sit at 15-4 on the season and 2-4 in conference play after falling to the No. 10 Carthage Firebirds by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. Augie ran away with the first set after grabbing a lead of 10 on three occasions to take the first set 25-17. Carthage answered with a 25-19 win in the second set to make a 1-1 score overall. In the third set, both teams tied 16 times until Augie faced set point at 24-23. The Firebirds collected the last three points of the game to make it a 27-25 final score and Carthage took the fourth set 25-22 to secure a 3-1 win overall.
Aidan Bolen and Sean Carlson led the Vikings with 12 kills each, while Schaefer had 33 assists. Schaefer also added 11 digs, while Max Sellers had nine. Carlson and Ty Heater both collected four blocks.
North Central owns a 13-4 overall record and sits at 3-2 in conference play. The Cardinals enter the contest after a 3-0 victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. As a team, North Central hit .370, while their opponent obtained .241. BK Bartlett led with 12 kills, while Tyler Donovan had 38 assists. The Cardinals have a 5-3 home record, with their last matchup being a 3-1 loss on March 9 against No. 5 Loras. North Central holds an 11-1 all-time record over Augie, with the Cardinals grabbing a 3-2 victory on March 2 in the Carver Center.
