ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team will host the UW-Stout Blue Devils on Saturday, March 16 at Thorson-Lucken Field.
The Vikings sit at 1-3 on the season and return to action after a 23-11 loss against the Concordia (Wis.) Falcons last Saturday. Concordia scored the first four points in the first period before Augie responded with two. Elena Bechard's third goal evened the score but the Falcons pulled away with the final three goals of the first quarter. In the second and third periods, Concordia out-scored Augie 12-4 to extend its advantage. In the fourth, Augie grabbed the first two, but Concordia closed the game with the final three goals.
Bechard and Madison Langewisch both notched four goals to lead the Vikings, while Anna Erickson had two assists. Kendall Phelan secured seven ground balls. Langewisch won 12 draw controls and Lanie Cecala saved 17 shots.
UW-Stout owns a 2-2 record on the season and enters the contest after falling 19-5 to St. Ambrose on Thursday. As a team, the Blue Devils made five of their 18 attempts, with two coming from Emma Mattews and Loryn Tornell. Tatum Kluender had three caused turnovers and Ally Crymble won four draw controls. UW-Stout had a 2-1 away record this season, with their last matchup being the loss against St. Ambrose. Saturday will be the first time both teams meet.
