LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will be back in action on Saturday, March 16 when they visit the Lake Forest Foresters for a non-conference bout.

Augustana is 0-3 on the young season, recently falling on the road to the Benedictine Eagles by a score of 19-11. After nearly four minutes of scoreless play, Carson Ghys got the Vikings on the board for the game's first tally on an assist from Caiden McCann. The home team answered with three scores of its own, but Jake Moore halted the momentum with consecutive goals to bring Augie even. Benedictine notched the final two points of a high-scoring opening frame to bring a 5-3 lead into the second.

The Vikings pulled back within one on two separate occasions to begin the second, seeing a goal from Elijah Graesser four minutes in before Ghys earned his second at the 8:35 mark. With less than a minute remaining, Benedictine earned a pair of quick scores to push the margin to its largest of the game, but an answer from Ghys with 23 seconds remaining in the half put the score at 9-6 heading into the break. The Eagles pulled away in the third with a plus-eight differential, outscoring Augie 10-2 over the first 15 minutes of the second half. Tommy Wimmers and Graesser accounted for the two points for the Vikings in the frame. Augustana owned a 3-1 advantage in the final period. Brady Holtz and Jack Connolly each found the back of the net before Holtz added one more with 30 seconds left to bring the score to its 19-11 final.  Four Vikings secured multiple scores in the defeat, led by Ghys' three scores. McCann added two assists, while Trevor Herman picked up 12 ground balls and won 14-22 faceoffs.

Lake Forest currently sits with a 5-1 record this year, recently seeing its five-game winning streak come to an end with a 10-5 loss at Carthage this past Wednesday. The Foresters are 3-0 on their home field this season, with two of those wins coming by a single point. Saturday will be the third CCIW foe for Lake Forest this season, previously defeating Carroll in the season opener before falling to Carthage. The Foresters boast three players with double-digit goals on the season, including two with 15 apiece in Brendan Herbert and Macklin Thomas.

Saturday will be the first-ever meeting between Lake Forest and Augustana. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
