DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team will travel for a conference battle against the No. 4 Loras Duhawks on Wednesday, March 13.
The Vikings sit at 15-2 on the season and 2-1 in conference play after dominating North Park by a score of 3-0 on Saturday. Augie ran away with the first set by a score of 25-16 before taking the early lead from North Park to win the second set 25-21. The Vikings pulled away from the back-and-forth third-set battle after they secured six points in a row and faced match point three times to close the set with a 26-24 final. Aidan Bolen led the Vikings in the win with 10 kills, while Sean Carlson followed with eight. Colin Schaefer had 16 assists and Ben Schultz, Zach Moreano, and Carlson all had two solo blocks.
Loras owns a 17-0 overall record and sits at 4-0 in conference play. The Duhawks enter the contest after a 3-1 victory over No. 11 North Central on Saturday. Loras hit .268 as a team, while their opponent obtained .164. Dorian Fiorenza led with 20 kills, while Joe Horn had 46 assists, and Sean Wenzel had six blocks. The Duhawks have a 4-0 home record this season, with their last matchup being a 3-0 victory on February 23 against No. 10 Carthage. Both teams have won five times in their all-time series history, with Loras grabbing a 3-0 win in their most recent matchup last season in the Carver Center.
