NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings baseball team has been picked to finish second in the CCIW this upcoming 2024 season, the CCIW announced Thursday morning.
The Vikings earned a total of 55 points in the poll, just four behind Millikin in the top spot. Augie earned three first-place votes and sit six points ahead of Illinois Wesleyan, who received one first-place vote. Each head coach votes for the eight other programs in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (eight points for first, seven for second, etc.). Coaches do not vote for their teams.
Augie ended the 2023 season with a 39-9 overall record and 16-2 in the CCIW. They finished the regular season as conference champions and ended their season with a loss to Webster in the regional semifinals of the NCAA Tournament. The Vikings will open up their 2024 season on Saturday, February 17 in Memphis, Tenn. against Greenville.
