ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team opens the 2024 season with a battle against the Cornell Rams at Thorson-Lucken Field on Saturday, February 24.

The Vikings return to action after concluding the 2023 season with an overall record of 6-7 and 1-5 in conference play. Augie finished the season with six wins, which was the highest since 2019. Madison Langewisch and Elena Bechard return for Augie after sitting tied for second in points last season with 37, with Langewisch tallying 35 goals in 13 games and Bechard with 33 in eight contests. Narita Lambert is also back after leading the Vikings in caused turnovers with 21 in 2023.

The Rams will also open their season on Saturday after finishing the 2023 season with a 10-8 overall record and 5-6 record on the road. Cornell holds a 3-0 all-time record over the Vikings with their last matchup on March 8, 2023, resulting in a 13-10 loss for Augie. They return top scorer Cece Zanoni who had 48 goals last season
