KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team was defeated on the road on Sunday, falling to the Kalamazoo Hornets by a score of 6-3.
The Hornets grabbed two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. At No. 2 doubles,
Anna-Maria Huebel and
Natasha Gauerke salvaged a point for Augie after defeating their opponent by a score of 8-6.
The two teams split the first four matches of singles to bring the overall score to 4-3 in favor of Kalamazoo. The Hornets sealed the final two contests, which included a three-set win, to earn the 6-3 match victory.
Caitlyn Hanulikova secured a 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 2 for the Vikings, while
Hannah Colbert defeated her opponent at No. 4 by a final score of 6-0, 6-1.
With the loss, Augustana drops to 5-6 on the season. The team will be back in action on March 2 against Cornell and Coe.
