ROCK ISLAND –  The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team returns to Thorson-Lucken Field on Sunday, September 10 for a non-conference battle against the Central Dutch.

Augie is coming off a 4-0 road loss to the Knox Prairie Fire in Galesburg, Ill. on Wednesday evening. The game remained scoreless entering the half as keeper Ignacio Alberola recorded three saves against seven shots faced. The Prairie Fire connected for four goals on nine attempts in the second period, while the Vikings tallied just three shots in the road loss. Alberola finished the game with four total saves in 90 minutes of action. 

Central enters the weekend with a 2-0 overall record and will face the Grinnell Pioneers at home on Saturday before their trip to Rock Island on Sunday. The Dutch have outscored their opponents 6-1, with forwards Joe Brown and Zach Holtan leading the team with two goals apiece. Across 180 minutes of action, Central has faced 15 shots on goal and allowed just one score.

The Dutch lead the all-time series 8-4, with the last encounter between the two programs on September 7, 2016 resulting in a 7-1 road loss for the Vikings in Pella, Iowa. Augie avoided the shutout with a strike in the final minute of play while narrowly trailing in total shots by a 13-12 margin.
